About Manton & The Cemetery
Manton Cemetery District was established in 1887 and is considered a Joint Cemetery District. Support is provided for this special district from two counties; Tehama and Shasta. It has over 700 memorials, including a section dedicated to veterans. According to tradition, the town derives its name from "Man's Town" because a large share of the first settlers were males due to it being a logging town. Today it thrives from a small community with a local school, church and corner store. Manton also has yearly events such as the Manton Apple Festival, which actually takes place in a field just across form the cemetery.
